    Motorists are advised to be cautious on Irish roads this morning as rainy weather continues and intense traffic is reported across the country this morning.

Motorists are advised to be cautious on Irish roads this morning as rainy weather continues and intense traffic is reported across the country this morning.

"The roads are wet in parts of Munster and Leinster this morning, and when you drive in rainy weather, slow down and leave a lot of space between your vehicle and the one in front of you," said a spokesman. AA Roadwatch program.

Traffic on the M1 and East Wall roads in Dublin would be very intense this morning.

According to AA Roadwatch, the southbound port tunnel bore was being measured this morning due to large volumes heading towards the port.

Traffic restrictions have since been lifted, but some delays remain.

On the M50 going north, traffic was reduced to one lane at J6 Blanchardstown, while Gardai was facing a collision.

In Cork, no more accidents are reported on the N40 westbound at J9 Bloomfield and traffic in Cork City would be moving well.

Gardai was also the victim of an accident on Blarney Road / Tower (R617), which caused a flood this morning in the area.

The warning comes as commuters wake up on many roads with surface water this morning, heavy rains should continue later today.

According to the latest forecasts, the rains in the east will dissipate this morning and will be cloudy, but showers are expected to become widespread in the afternoon.

The scattered showers will continue tonight with temperatures ranging from 4 to 7 degrees.
