Ellis Jenkins plays man of the match against South Africa
Welsh flanker Ellis Jenkins has to be operated on after suffering a "serious" knee injury in his 20-11 win against South Africa on Saturday.
The Cardiff Blues player could now be a doubt for the Six Nations, with his club taking stock of his condition.
"The Cardiffs Blues can confirm that Ellis Jenkins suffered a major knee injury during Austria's victory over South Africa in Wales, which will require surgery," reads a statement posted on their official website.
"Other specialized tests are needed to establish an accurate prognosis after surgery.
"Cardiff Blues and WRU [Welsh Rugby Union] and will continue to work closely together to manage Ellis's care optimally. No further comments will be made at this stage. "
Jenkins was stretched
Jenkins produced a remarkable performance against the Springboks as Wales finished their first fall tries, having already beaten Scotland, Australia and Tonga.
The 25-year-old, who has won 11 caps and led Wales to victory over the Springboks earlier this year, was called late by Dan Lydiate after being injured.
He then went from the blind side flanker to No. 8 after only 12 minutes of game at the Principality Stadium, Ross Rossi having been forced to suffer a concussion and make a man-made performance of the match.
