A 30 year old man was remanded in custody following an incident at Co Wexford yesterday.

The man, originally from Wexford County and who can not be appointed for legal reasons, appeared in court on two counts of badault causing harm, one to a woman and the other to a child.

Garda John Cleary presented evidence of his arrest, while Garda Olive McNamara told Judge Gerard Haughton that she had accused the accused last night shortly after 9 pm.

Garda McNamara said that when the charges were brought against the man, he had not responded.

The defendant was represented by lawyer David Tarrant, who did not ask to be released on bail and told the court that he consented to remand and asked for free legal aid.

The accused was detained on remand for a week until the Wexford District Court sitting on December 4.
