A man was detained after appearing in court following an incident that sparked a national alert to the ICC yesterday.
The 30-year-old man appeared in a Wexford District Court shortly before 11 am this morning.
The Wexford man has been charged with unlawful imprisonment under section 15 of the Non-Lethal Offenses Against the Person Act.
He had also been charged with two counts of badault causing injury under section 3 of the Non-Lethal Offenses Against the Person Act.
Dressed in a blue sweater and navy blue sweatpants, the accused did not go to court during the brief hearing.
Gda John Cleary, of Enniscorthy Garda's guard station, testified to the arrest of the accused yesterday at 7:36 am in Wexford and later charged him with false imprisonment.
Gda Olive McNamara, also from Enniscorthy Garda Station, testified to the indictment of the man at 9:19 pm last night regarding the alleged badault. He did not answer when he was charged.
The defense attorney for the accused stated that there was consent to pre-trial detention and that he will appear before the same court next Tuesday.
The court was also seized of a request for legal aid for the defendant currently unemployed.
After being remanded in custody, he briefly told a group of people in court.
