A woman was jailed for two months for causing criminal damage to a packet of chips.
Kathleen McDonagh (25) opened a package of Pringles after she was ordered out of a Tesco store where she was banned.

Tesco security personnel monitoring CCTV spotted McDonagh in the queue and, knowing that she was being banned from the store, was directed to her. Before they could reach her and take her Pringles, she opened the package, the court said.
"When the security guards approached her, she opened the Pringles and removed the sheet top. She said, "I opened it, so you have to let me pay for it" … she could not be resold with a loss of € 1.50. She said that she wanted to buy Pringles but that she was not allowed to be in the store, "he said.
Inspector Kennelly told the court that Mr. McDonagh had had a total of 31 previous convictions, including 14 for theft and two for criminal damages. She also recently had convictions for handling stolen property for which she had been given conditional sentences.
Defense attorney Shane Collins Daly said his client told Gardai on October 30 that she pleaded guilty to the charge. He asked Judge O'Shea to be extremely lenient given that his client had just been married, was five months pregnant and had already suffered from anxiety disorders.
McDonagh is currently taking a hairdressing course and has been working for five months at a local hair salon, the court said. He had since closed for renovations, but she was now working for her mother's hairstyle.
Judge O Shea said that, taken out of context, the offense was not serious. But he added that the fact that Mr. McDonagh has already been convicted of similar offenses and theft has compounded the problem.
Judge O'Shea was also concerned when it appeared that McDonagh opened the Pringles package after security staff approached her and told her that she had to leave the store. "It's hard to see it as anything other than clever," he said.
He said that such behavior was an aggravating factor in the case and that it did not seem that conditional sentences were working for McDonagh. He said that it seemed to him that the appropriate punishment was four months of imprisonment, but he suspended the last two months and set commitments in case of appeal.
