Arsenal manager Unai Emery paid tribute to the talented Emile Smith Rowe after the Gunners' 3-0 win over Vorskla Poltava.
Arsenal have now taken first place in the group with a game to lose and, with more than one eye on the Premier League derby on Sunday at home London against Tottenham, Emery made 10 changes last night.
Striker Eddie Nketiah took his first start in the senior team. Zech Medley, Bukayo Sako and Charlie Gilmour both left the bench for their debut. Arsenal finished the match with six teenagers on the ground in Kiev.
Smith Rowe's performance was particularly striking: the 18-year-old scored his third goal in his last four appearances – Emery wanting the other youngsters from Arsenal to take the example of England's international youth.
"He has gained self-confidence, taken responsibility and made progress with us," he said.
"Today, his performance is very good. A good example for other young players. They are very likely to help us today with this performance and also because we think they can help us.
"They need confidence to play games, not only at the training, but also to take minutes in games like those of today.
"We have the responsibility with young players to show us where they can improve and stay with us."
