Amazon Echo owners in the UK can now receive personalized experiences with the arrival of Alexa Speaker ID.
This feature means that the smart wizard can recognize different voices when spoken, providing individual options for Alexa calls and messaging, flash briefs, shopping, and music.
Users must configure the feature by asking Alexa to learn their voice and answer a series of verbal instructions for about five minutes.
Alexa Speaker ID allows people to read all messages sent to the person, as well as read their favorite flash briefs, ignoring stories they know they've heard before.
Users who want to buy from Amazon via the speaker will no longer need a voice code each time they make a purchase, while households who pay for the Amazon music streaming service can expect to personalized melodies to their liking.
This feature is the latest addition to Amazon's voice badistant in the UK, more than a year after its introduction in the United States.
Its main rival, Google Home, introduced its own multi-user option in the UK last July, which includes access to a personal calendar.
Amazon has stated that support for additional Alexa features will be deployed in the future and that Alexa Speaker ID will become more intelligent over time, the more it will be used.
