An elderly man died as a result of a road accident in Manorhamilton, Leitrim County this afternoon.
The 80-year-old man died after the tractor he was driving hit a ditch as he was leaving a field to go to a local road in Leckaun around 1 pm
Gardaí and the emergency services went to the scene and the man was pronounced dead soon after.
The site has been preserved and will be examined by a Garda forensic team in the morning.
The man's body was transported to the Sligo University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
