Anne Hegerty was defended by her co-actor in The Chase Mark Labbett, who said I'm a celebrity … get me out of there! the camper does not have a "game plan".

Queg Maestro Hegerty, who works at Asperger's, has been criticized by some I am A Celebrity fans for excluding a number of medical challenges.

Some viewers also said that they thought Hegerty was receiving preferential treatment and had suggested giving him a non-alcoholic drink to consume instead of fish juice in a Bushtucker suit held earlier this week.

Labbett, who plays in The Chase alongside Hegerty, told Good Morning Britain, "She does not have a game plan here.

"She is the ultimate organizer, she is the godmother of my son, she already has her birthday and Christmas presents and has handed them over.

"But she reacts terribly to the unexpected. This is one of the things that autistics and people in Asperger do.

"That's why the first trial, she did not expect it and it threw it away. But the Bushtucker trial, where she knew she had to do it, she prepared and headed everything.

Hegerty's first trial, in which she was covered with critters and jungle creatures while she was collecting star tokens, saw her retire early.

Hegerty's director, David Hahn, said the fans were discovering the true version of the TV star on the reality show.

Mr. Hahn said that his alter ego Chase The housekeeper is "totally an act" and that "it is a charming woman".

He said, "He is truly a wonderful human being, an honest lady who would do nothing on the wrong side of anyone."

He added that she had not made any stipulations because of her Asperger before taking part in the show and that she had undergone the same medical exams as the other stars.

Hahn said, "She is 60 years old. The rigorous controls they undergo are incredible … they leave nothing to chance.

"They can not take any chances. If they say that she can not give it a try for medical reasons, it has nothing to do with her asperger's or her autism. "

Hegerty is part of the "I'm a celebrity" group, with Nick Knowles, host of SOS DIY, football manager Harry Redknapp, television presenter Noel Edmonds and former EastEnders star Rita Simons.
