Asthma patients have received an urgent warning about "very low" stocks of certain drugs in the UK – endangering thousands of lives.
Asthma UK has warned that stocks of Bricanyl Turbohaler inhalers are low throughout the country.
The manufacturers of the inhaler confirmed that there would probably be a few weeks when stocks would not be available at all, said the charity.
Bricanyl Turbohaler is an inhaler containing a drug that relaxes the lungs and airways and helps manage asthma symptoms.
If victims are left without essential drugs, they risk life-threatening asthma attacks.
Asthma UK said it was difficult to know how many people could be affected, but in 2016, some 640,000 inhalers were prescribed to people with asthma.
Those with better control of their symptoms may only need one inhaler per year, the charity said.
The manufacturer, AstraZeneca, said it was working "as quickly as possible" to resume production.
All Turbohaler are not concerned, but only stocks of bricanyl Turbohaler.

Asthma UK urges all users to check their drug supply to make sure they have enough for the next few weeks.

Andy Whittamore, general practitioner at Asthma UK, said: "If you use a bricanyl Turbohaler because you have other side effects, it is especially important that you have a conversation with your doctor or nurse specialist. Asthma treatment.
"It may be that you are prescribed a spacer next to a new reliever inhaler.
"An interlayer facilitates the use of your inhaler, it is more effective for the drug to enter your lungs and also helps reduce side effects."
Do not forget to continue taking your preventive inhaler to calm your symptoms.
