Ballybrack FC excuses for "serious and unacceptable error" after simulating the death of the player and canceled the match

A Dublin football club is excused for a "serious and unacceptable mistake" after discovering that they had simulated the death of a player to cancel a match.

Ballybrack FC had announced that its player, Fernando Nuno La-Fuenta, had been killed in a road accident Thursday night as he was returning home after training.

But the accident never happened and Fernando is currently in Spain after returning there about a month ago.

A statement issued by the club claims that the mistake was made by a person "experiencing serious personal difficulties", which has now been relieved of his responsibilities within the club.

It was also revealed that Ballybrack had contacted Fernando, who had accepted their apology for the confusion.

Ballybrack FC's statement reads: "In response to recent events and information currently circulating in social and traditional media.

"The attention of the club, the senior players and the management team has come to the conclusion that the correspondence of a member of the executive management team in the Leinster Senior League was tainted by a serious error of judgment.

"Starting tonight, an emergency meeting was organized and the person in question was relieved of all his football duties, within Ballybrack FC, his senior team and his roles within the club itself.

"The club has contacted Fernando to confirm his location information, his well-being and he is grateful to have accepted our apologies on this subject.

"This serious and unacceptable error was completely false and was committed by a person who experienced serious personal difficulties without the knowledge of all other members of the club.

"The club will continue to provide a duty of care to all parties and provide the support it may need at the moment.

"This person has already made a significant contribution to the club's senior team in recent years and to the wider football community in Dublin for decades.

"At this point, we can only offer our sincere apologies to the Leinster Senior League, our opponents, Arklow Town FC and the many clubs and footballers who have contacted us or sent messages of support to them. days.

"In recent years, good progress has been made in the renewal of senior football in the Ballybrack region.

"We are all surprised by this event and hope to try to work with all relevant organizations and agencies to learn from this mistake."
