A fight for the UFC flyweight title was officially announced this morning. UFC bantamweight champion, TJ Dillashaw, has moved into a weight clbad to face the current 125-pound champion, Henry Cejudo.

Rumors have run over whether the UFC's flyweight division will cease to exist after the fight against UFC 233 and challenger Dillashaw recently said in an interview with ESPN that He had been paid "a big charge of money to kill the division."

Speaking this week on the unfiltered podcast of the UFC, Dana White was asked if he could confirm Dillashaw's statement that the flyweight division would be closed down. He beat Cejudo at UFC 233. White did not want to confirm or deny the division may have run its course.

"Who said I told them I would pay them a ton of money to kill the division?" Said White. "I do not even know what that means, but yes, let me tell you that TJ Dillashaw did not play bading in the flyweight division. The flyweight division just did not take off and never managed, even with a dominant champion like Demetrious. It never made its way and people did not care.

"I fought for a long time to keep it going, and it's still going on, we're still fighting in this division, but we'll see. We will see what the future holds for us.

While former champion Demetrious Johnson had been traded to the ONE Championship under an agreement involving Ben Askren coming from the other side, White was asked if any other trade deals could be concluded in the future. Again, White would not put all his cards on the table, but he said it was a very unique situation where this type of agreement was the most appropriate.

"No, there is nothing else," said White. "It was the only way to conclude this agreement and it made sense. I also made offers to other organizations, I made offers that have not been resolved.

"It's something we can do and in this scenario it worked very well."
