Derry Girls' actors have mocked rumors that former US President Bill Clinton would make an appearance in the highly anticipated second series of the series.
After a "long press day", the stars of the successful series Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Nicola Coughlan, Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and Dylan Llewellyn were a joke to journalists and made them to believe that Clinton had visited Derry.
However, they never expected their joke to be believed and were surprised when the media told the story.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on Friday Late show, Saoirse, 25, who plays Erin in the series, told this hilarious story in these terms: "We were bored, it was a long day of press.
"We told reporters that Bill Clinton came to Derry and was a big fan of our sausage rolls – and they believed us!"
"We were joking clearly," added actress Louisa, in Dublin. Someone had to tell us that we had to stop saying it because people believed it, "she said.
The actors felt that there were still a lot of actual cameos in the series to interest viewers, including that of Ted's father's star, Ardal O 'Hanlon.
Jamie-Lee O 'Donnell said it was "awesome" to work with O & # 39; Hanlon and said the 53-year-old star was "so adorable and really a nice guy on the set".
Derry Girls Writer Lisa McGee recently talked about "bigger and better" antics when the series returns next week.
"It's a little more optimistic, but the girls are still a disaster," McGee said about the return of the series.
"Maybe the size of their project is a little bigger, we tried to push a little further and add a little more ambition about this series.
"The antics are a little bigger and better and we come out a little bit more, we see a little more Northern Ireland and that sort of thing."
The highly anticipated second series of the hit comedy Channel 4, which chronicles the life of a group of teenagers growing up in Derry in the 1990s, is scheduled to air on March 5th.
