The GAA has decided to clarify the process surrounding the implementation of the proposed changes to Gaelic football rules.
Following a meeting with the GPA, the badociation confirmed that it would be possible to review the proposed changes before the 2019 Allianz League at the next meeting of the Ard Chomhairle on January 19th.
This New Year's meeting has always been in the newspaper in order to apply the rule to the five new rules, which made their debut in pre-season competitions this week.
The new rules will be tested at the next provincial pre-season competitions starting next month.
The plan is to test them in the upcoming Allianz League, but they will be subject to review at the Jan. 19 meeting, during which the GAA will evaluate how they work in the pre-tournament. -season.
On Monday, the GPA had called for an "urgent" meeting with the GAA following protests from their members over the fact that the proposed changes to the rules were to be tested within the League.
The documents consulted by RTÉ revealed that a survey conducted among GPA members revealed strong opposition to the limited use of the hand pbad and the proposal of a side strike.
Prior to the meeting with the GPA, GAA President John Horan reiterated his belief that there would be no further modifications despite fears raised by the GPA.
"The Central Council has made a decision, we are not an instinctive organization where the Central Council will turn around and immediately change the decisions it has adopted."
