Garda "hooked for life" to stop a suspect in a fatal accident

The driver suspected of wounded a garda and killing an innocent man in Castleblayney, Monaghan County, was "wanted" in connection with another hit-and-run charge.

Gardaí opened an investigation after Stephen Marron (47), a father of two, was killed when an uncontrollable Audi A6 crashed into his vehicle while he stopped. he was parked on Castleblayney's main street at 11:23 pm Tuesday.

Strangely, it appeared that the man arrested in connection with the incident was suspected of being involved in another car accident with the same Garda in 2010.

A 34-year-old man from Co Armagh was questioned last night about the horror that killed the local man, Mr. Brown, and left Gda Michael Devlin (31) hospitalized for serious injuries.

A arrest warrant had been in place for the arrest of the man since January 2011, by which time he did not appear in a Co Monaghan district court as a result of 39, a terrifying incident on November 20, 2010.

Eight years ago, Gda Devlin was injured in a collision between a car and her patrol car at Latlorcan in Monaghan County.

The driver later left the scene but was arrested nearby, suspected of impaired driving and driving without insurance. The suspect was charged and did not appear in court at a second hearing.

Then on Tuesday night – eight years and a week after this incident – the suspect arrived at Castleblayney Garda station for an unrelated matter.

He has been recognized by Gda Devlin, who is not based there but is based at Monaghan Garda station. The suspect then left the station and kept him there.

When he tried to leave, Gda Devlin attempted to stop the car but was dragged from the train station to the main street about 500 meters away. One source said Gda Devlin "was good for life".

The highly respected officer was at Castleblayney Station only because he had previously been arrested for impaired driving.

"Normally, he would not be there, but when he was there, he of course recognized the suspect when that person arrived at the station," a source told Irish Independent.

"It's the same man who was accused of reckless driving more than eight years ago."

A video footage obtained by the Irish Independent shows the Audi car rolling in the main street at 11:21 pm.

When the car turns on the street, the driver's side door opens, but it closes before the car starts to turn towards the Blue Skoda Octavia. The Audi seems to be gaining momentum just before the impact with Mr Brown's car, hitting the back.

Mr. Brown's Skoda crashes against a pole and is turned 90 degrees while the Audi continues to roll for several meters before stopping.

As two cars from the Garda react to the scene, the 34-year-old driver gets out of the car and puts his hand in his pocket before raising his arms.

We can see Gda Devlin stagger on the pbadenger side of the car and collapse before being helped by a pbaderby.

The main street was closed yesterday to facilitate the examinations of the Garda Forensic Police and the Garda Síochána Mediation Commission.

James Morrisroe, GRA representative in Cavan / Monaghan, said: "We wish our injured colleague a quick recovery from his injuries.

"Our thoughts and prayers are also with the family of the deceased."
