Some people like to suggest fan theories after listening to a particular type of entertainment, but here's the fan theory that everyone will have to give up. Mike Flanagan, director of the fantastic film Netflix the Haunted Hill House, officially puts to bed a popular theory of fans on the end of the series. Flanagan, chatting with TV Line, points out that he's not against fan theories in general, but he adds that if the fan theory was correct, the show would lose much of its dramatic weight and would also result in the death of Patriarch Hugh Crain. in the end kind of meaning:

"I talked a lot about the end and I'm reluctant to say more. I like the fact that people are able to give their opinion, so I'm in no hurry to take that away from them. In this case, however, the end can be read at nominal value. . . . If they are still in the red room, that steals Hugh's sacrifice (and the show itself) of any significance. For me, it ends exactly as it seems to me.

As previously reported, Flanagan revealed that he briefly played with this twist idea before ruling against it. Whenever someone is in the red room, a vertical window can be examined in the background. At one point, Flanagan considered inserting this window into a scene in order to inform viewers:

"One thing I can say is that we had a long discussion about placing the Red Room window, that strange vertical window, in the background of this photo. And I finally decided not to do it. It was too cruel … But there was a lot of talk that this peace might not be real. In the version we used, I think it's absolutely real. We have embarked on this path. "

This should put this particular fan theory to rest. But like worried ghosts that have not yet slipped past this deadly gear, fan theories have their place, so do not be surprised if some viewers stick to that.
