I am a competitor of Celeb and his crew ready to leave the jungle early as forest fires devastate the bush

Producers of I'm a celebrity Get me out of here are ready to evacuate the actors and the team if forest fires continue to spread in their direction.

The team behind the hit series is prepared at worst for the flames that ravage much of the Australian bush.

Up to 8,000 people have already been evacuated from their homes in the city of Gracemere, Queensland.

Conditions such as low humidity, high temperatures and wind gusts mean that fires are spreading rapidly and have been termed "catastrophic" by the Bureau of Meteorology; a first for the region.

They are now 60 km north of the camp, which is in Murwillumbah, on the border of Queensland and New South Wales.

The bosses of the series say they are ready to put everyone safe at the first signs of danger.

"We talk regularly with fire departments," told The Mirror a source of the show.

"There is no immediate danger, but the safety and well-being of our players and our team is our number one concern. We will therefore continue to monitor the evolution of fires.

"We really hope that they will not approach the camp."

This is not the first time that the actors of the series are under extreme weather conditions.

In 2015, the camp was hit by torrential rain, thunder and lightning, forcing the candidates to flee to the Bush Telegraph for shelter.
