Harry Arter says he is disappointed to see Martin O'Neill lose his position as director of the Irish Republic, but admits he does not know what the future holds for Roy Keane.
Arter has a new manager at the international level after the appointment of Mick McCarthy to succeed O 'Neill for the 2020 Europe Championship.
O'Neill made her debut in the Republic in 2015, but Arter had a well-documented dispute with his badistant Roy Keane and had retired from international service in September because of that.
"I was really disappointed for Martin, he was so successful for us as a country," said Arter, "The Irish media has been pushing hard to change direction.
"The team has changed a lot in the last 18 months and I think it was a very hard job for him to get the guys to play the way he wanted in such a short time."
"I'm sure Martin will be eager to get back into football." He still has that pbadion for football and probably missed the daily part of a football club.
"Hope that he finds something he wants to do, the right opportunity presents itself and he will succeed."
What future for Keane?
"I'm not sure what Roy wants to do next in the game – he wants to be a manager himself," he said.
"I wish him the best"
"He has experienced this in the past, this time he coached and did punditry, but I wish him the best."
Arter revealed that he wanted to turn his loan in Cardiff into a permanent move if the Bluebirds remained in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old took out a loan from Bournemouth for the entire season and played a leading role in the Cardiff midfielder led by Neil Warnock.
Cardiff is in the final line before Friday's home game against the Wolves, but Arter has become the favorite of fans in the Welsh capital for his enthusiasm, energy and commitment to the cause.
"Playing Premier League football is all I want to do," said Arter.
"This is an objective for which I have worked very hard in my career and I do not want to give up very easily.
"I'm 29 next month and I know that if I come out of the Premier League, it may be difficult to go back there.
"I cross my fingers, it's still good for me and we can sit after the 38th match with us having remained standing and wanting to stay here permanently"
"I have already told my family that the dream season would be Cardiff to stay awake, the director to stay and hope to be able to sign because I loved every minute of being here.
"Did I tell the manager? No, I think he can say it.
"I'm keeping my fingers crossed, it's still good for me and we'll be able to sit down after the 38th game, we stayed up and are looking to stay here permanently."
