The entire country is on yellow alert until 18:00 on Wednesday as Diana approaches the approaching Irish coast.
An orange wind warning was issued in six counties while gusts of up to 130 km / h hit some coastal counties.
Gale force winds should cause travel chaos with many stranded flights at Irish airports. Traffic restrictions may be in place in some areas of the country due to extreme weather conditions.
Kerry, Cork and Waterford are on orange alert from Wednesday, until further notice of 12 noon.

A yellow wind condition warning has been in place for each county since 5 am and Met Eireann has extended the end of the warning to 18 hours.
The national forecaster also warned of flooding in coastal areas.
