An Irish woman was sentenced to two months in prison after causing criminal damage to a packet of Pringles.

Kathleen McDonagh, 25, of Inchera Close, Cork, opened the snack at € 1.50 before she was paid, reports BBC News.

She has been denied access to the Tesco store at the Mahon Point Mall. So she opened the tube after being asked to leave, so the staff had to let her pay.

However, Gardaí told the court that since Mrs. McDonagh was banned from entering, she was not allowed to enter the store.

Opening the chips after being asked to leave was therefore a criminal injury because they could not be resold.

McDonagh, who has already been convicted of theft and criminal damage, was jailed for four months and was suspended for two months.

The incident occurred almost two years ago, on December 27, 2016.
