Liverpool's angry manager Jurgen Klopp has criticized Polish referee Szymon Marciniak for making his team look like "butchers" in their 2-1 defeat of the Champions League against Paris St Germain.
The Reds boss was unhappy with the hosts' dramatic play and pointed to Neymar's role as a Ligue 1 club that forced Liverpool to a third defeat away in Group C.
Six Liverpool players have been hired and only two for PSG, although midfielder Marco Verratti has been arguing for an extravagant challenge against Joe Gomez. Klopp said his team looked like attackers.
"The number of interruptions in this match was just not cool," said the German.
"Twice in a row we won the fair play award in England and tonight we look like butchers after the yellow cards we had.
"It was smart PSG, especially Neymar, but many other players fell as if it was really serious and we were not so quiet.
"We were aggressive and, unfortunately, the negative attacks do not help us in football, we were rather frustrated and angry.
"But we have to deal with it, that's our job, and if the arbiter allows it, we have to deal with it."
Asked about the referee, Klopp added, "You can do a lot of things. You can give yellow cards for everything.
"If you fall, you act as if you die and the next moment you get up, yellow card.It is possible. This is unsportsmanlike behavior.
"In the end, it's hectic and everyone is falling in. I do not expect the help of an umpire, I'm waiting to what he calms all these things. "
"The crowd was full, it's really hard and we were not calm enough, even Joe Gomez received a yellow card, he's the nicest boy on the planet and he was on the point of being made red. "
Thomas Tuchel, director of PSG, did not agree, hinting that his compatriot used it as a diversionary tactic.
"I did not think it was such a big problem, we have five extra minutes, we've had a lot of mistakes – you do not have to make mistakes," he said.
"I do not even want to talk about it because for me it's not a subject.
"When I lose big games, I get angry and talk about things just to draw attention to the result."
"I'm only talking about the game."
Liverpool started slowly and allowed their hosts to take control of the match. Juan Bernat gave them a 14-minute lead, doubled with Neymar starting and ending a counterattack.
James Milner scored a penalty at halftime after Angel Di Maria's fall on Sadio Mane, but despite some pressure in the second half, the Reds failed to force the EQ.
That forced Liverpool to defeat Napoli at Anfield either 1-0, or two goals in advance, to qualify for the knockout stages.
"We need Anfield again and we need to create a pretty special atmosphere, we know it," Klopp said.
"But Naples is a very strong team, and if we go through it, we deserve it, and otherwise we do not do it.
"We are not afraid of that and I think you get what you deserve, that's all, we have to try everything."
