Liverpool fans were in a hurry after Marco Verratti of Paris St Germain escaped the red card for his reckless challenge to Joe Gomez in the first half of the match tonight.
Dragging 1-0 and looking away from their best, it appeared that Liverpool would at least have the advantage of a man advantage.
However, after looking for everyone as he knew the worst was going to happen, Marco Verratti received a yellow card while Gomez looked at him incredulously.

Verratti in a nutshell: brilliant and technical pace to dance in the Liverpool press and drop the ball, then commits a horrible red card challenge during the pursuit of the return. So smart and yet so sometimes without brains

Nasty tackle from Verratti. Should have been a red card

If Gomez had rolled like Neymar a few minutes earlier, Verratti would definitely be gone. #PSGLFC

From there, the Liverpool night has not improved much.
With Alisson repeatedly called in the action, the second goal came after another rescue the Brazilian fell into the path of Neymar.
His international teammate had little to do other than pbad the empty goal. Appearing comfortably in the lead, a consolation at the end of the half resulted in a penalty; James Milner finished well to reduce the score to 2-1.
