It appeared that the driver suspected of injuring a garda and killing an innocent man in Castleblayney, Monaghan State, was wanted in connection with another hit-and-run charge.

Stephen Marron, a 47-year-old father of two, was killed and 31-year-old Garda Michael Devlin of Letterkenny was treated at the hospital for injuries sustained during the incident.

The Irish Independent reported that the 34-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident was suspected of being involved in another incident that occurred in November 2010.

Eight years ago, Gda Devlin was injured in a collision between a car and her patrol car at Latlorcan in Monaghan County.

The suspect arrived Tuesday night at Castleblayney Garda station before 11:30 am for an unrelated matter. He has been recognized by Gda Devlin, who is not normally stationed there.

When he tried to leave, Gda Devlin attempted to stop the car but was dragged from the train station to the main street about 500 meters away.
