Multiple accidents and breakdowns on the M50 in Dublin cause chaos of morning traffic

This morning, several blackouts and collisions wreaked havoc in traffic for busy commuters in Dublin, with delays of an hour and a half on the M50 motorway.

The warning signs were there from the start after a collision on the M5, exit 5, on the south side of the M50. Finglas blocked the right and middle lanes at 8am.

Then an accident on the north side at about the same time at junction 6 blocked the left lane. A breakdown at this intersection occurred half an hour later on the ramp southbound from the N3.

Another collision at 9 o'clock on the north side of junction 6 further aggravated the problem.

Later, a breakdown at the same intersection, again northbound, was slightly hampered by traffic in the left lane.

The incidents have since been resolved.

Meanwhile, the M1 has also witnessed some incidents that have obstructed the main road.

There was a collision on the M1 heading south before the Dublin tunnel under the Santry air bridge on the right lane.

Gardai also counted traffic in the harbor tunnel this morning, limiting the number of people who can pbad.

The northbound M9 was closed this morning and the emergency services had to deal with a serious accident.

The road was closed between J3 Athy and J2 Kilcullen.

Elsewhere, a serious accident occurred at Freemount / Dromina Rd (R578) in Co Cork.

Meanwhile, some trains departing Cork this morning have been delayed or even canceled due to a signal defect.

Irish Rail stated that due to a lack of signage between Cork and Mallow, the train connecting Cork to Dublin Heuston from 5:50 was canceled.

The departure from Cork to Dublin Heuston at 6:15 was delayed by one hour, impacting other services.
