Irish people abroad can now renew their pbadports online with a new service.

The extension is open to adults and children and the registration fee will be reduced by € 5.

The online pbadport renewal service is a cheaper, faster and easier way to renew a pbadport.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that there would be a ten-day processing time for all applications submitted online, including shipping charges.

Tánaiste Simon Coveney praised the expansion saying: "It is important that the Pbadport Service continue to use technology to increase efficiency and provide the best possible service to citizens.

This expanded service is an example and will allow all citizens, adults and children, to renew their pbadport online, 24/7, from anywhere in the world.

People wishing to apply for or renew their pbadport online must have a digital photo, an e-mail address and a credit card.

For children's pbadports, an identity and consent form for the child pbadport will need to be printed and verified at the end of the online process.
