Nissan president thinks president Carlos Ghosn has too much power

According to reports, Ghosn was considering strengthening the business relationship between Nissan, Mitsubishi and Renault, but some Nissan executives feared it would reduce their business to a junior partner.

In a meeting attended by hundreds of employees, Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa apologized to the staff for the scandal and told them that Ghosn had too much power. Saikawa blamed his former boss for focusing too much on the three automakers, according to Automotive News magazine. Saikawa said Ghosn's position as one of Renault's three automakers and CEOs was an "uneven" one and claimed that Nissan's branding had become blurred with Ghosn's personality.

Is there a case of "coup de palate" to allow executives to better control Nissan? No doubt more information will be discovered during the investigation.
