Mauricio Pochettino says that Juan Foyth being ineligible to play in the Champions League is a "painful" mistake that Tottenham must learn.

The 20-year-old has not been named to the Spurs team but has been impressed since his arrival at the national level.

Foyth can not face Inter Milan at Wembley on Wednesday, however, after the Spurs banned the Argentinian from their Champions League side.

"It's so painful," said Pochettino.

"It's a mistake we made at this level of football that we can not repeat. We must find a solution. "

Danny Rose participated in Tottenham's training session on Tuesday.

The left back has been absent since October due to an injury to the groin, but it is now healed.

Victor Wanyama did not take part in the training before the inevitable Spurs match at Wembley.

Despite his return to training, it does not appear that Rose is playing against the Serie A team, the club saying he is "strengthening the shape of his game."

Davinson Sanchez (hamstring) and Kieran Trippier (groin) have been training separately, although he is about to return.

Wanyama has a knee injury and will not play. Mousa Dembele also suffers from an ankle problem.
