Celebrate the holidays with a handful of free games with gold that will keep you entertained during the December winter storms.

Not on Santa's beautiful list this year? We do not care? There is no happy and scary old man dressed in a germ-infested red suit that forces you to sit on his lap. Microsoft is here with its own bag of free games while the big green machine is looking to spread the joy of the holidays this year with its range of games with Gold.

After the impressive lineup of November gold games, Microsoft is offering a new series of free games for December 2018. For next month, Microsoft is not a Scrooge, offering us four games worth more than 59.96 $.

Coup de send next month for Xbox LIVE Gold members is Q.U.B.E. 2. This sci-fi puzzle will be free on Xbox One throughout the month of December.

Following the first-person success game of 2011, Q.U.B.E. 2 puts you in the strange space suit of Amelia Cross, a "failed archaeologist" who mysteriously wakes up "among the sand-washed ruins of an ancient extraterrestrial landscape". Armed with gloves that allow you to manipulate the environment around you, you'll explore a labyrinth – Monoloth filled with mind-blowing puzzles that have the answers to the questions you're looking for.

Also free on Xbox One next month is Never alone, the award-winning atmospheric platform game from the developer Upper One Games. Released in 2014, Never alone is based on the Iñupiaq traditional tale, "Kunuuksaayuk", which is told through eight chapters full of interesting traditions and cultures of the Iñupiat people. Never alone will be available from December 16th to January 15th.

Puzzle games are not for you? That's good because December will also be one of the best all-time role-playing franchises in the Games for Gold lineup. Critically acclaimed Dragon Age II will be available for Xbox 360 (and Xbox One through backward compatibility) from the first of the month to December 15th.

Although not the longest role playing game, there is enough epic adventure in Dragon Age II to entertain you during the holidays to avoid the clumsiness of having to socialize with distant relatives.

Finally, the month will be completed Mercenaries: Playground of destruction, an action-adventure clbadic from developer Pandemic Studios and LucasArts publisher. Originally released for Xbox in 2005, the game was made available on Xbox One through backward compatibility earlier this year. I have never really played this game, so I can not comment on the gameplay, but it seems actually fun and completely chaotic.
