Robert de niro is pronounced for the first time since the announcement of his wife and his 20 year old wife Grace Hightower had divided.
The Oscar winner, 75, issued a statement on Tuesday, Nov. 27 confirming the split and asking for some privacy during this difficult time for his family.
"Grace and I have two beautiful children together. We are entering a period of transition in our relationships, which is a difficult but constructive process, " Robert I said. "I honor Grace as a wonderful mother and ask for the privacy and respect of all as we develop our roles as partners in parenting."
Robert and Grace married in 1997 after more than a decade of dating. Both are parents to sons Elliott, 20 years old and her daughter Helen Grace, 6.
