There is no discernable line connecting all the December games to the gold. It's a cliché of old and new, all from completely different genres. Puzzle, platform game, fantasy RPG and extravagant shooter. I guess that means that there is a good chance that most people find something that suits their tastes.
Microsoft told us which titles make up the December games with Christmas stockings. On the front of the Xbox One, an exploratory puzzle Q.U.B.E. 2 is free for the whole month. December 16th Never alone gets the nod. You may remember Never alone like the beautiful little platform game about a girl and her fox that tells a piece of Iñupiat Folklore.
However, it is on the backward compatibility side that users could find the most value. From December 1st to 15th, BioWare software Dragon Age II is free. From December 16th to the end of the month (and of the year!), Mercenaries: Playground of destruction take over. Mercenaries: Playground of destruction is a well-regarded gem of the era of the original Xbox. We will see if it still holds.
