Joe Allen refuted claims that he was bitten by Derby midfielder Bradley Johnson in Stoke's 2-1 win on Wednesday night.
The incident arose as a result of a challenge launched by Peter Etebo to Richard Keogh, who saw the Potters player ejected.
The match was screened live on Sky sports and the replays seemed to show Johnson thrusting his mouth into Allen"Shoulder.
He is thought to have only managed to win the Welsh international jersey, and Allen was baffled by suggestions that he was bitten.
Both players were full and Allen told Stoke Sentinel: "People have asked me what happened at half-time and suggested that I get bitten, but to make everything clear, it did not happen.
"He may have grabbed some of my shirt, but I think we can let him rest."

Rams' official, Frank Lampard, said about the incident: "Joe Allen and Gary Rowett just said that there was not much in it (the alleged incident ), I did not see him again, so I can not give any other information than these ones. "
His interlocutor, Gary Rowett, said the following immediately after the match: "Originally, someone was telling me that Joe Allen had Bradley Johnson's bite.
"I spoke to Joe Allen, he did not say anything problematic, and the referee. We will certainly not claim anything and I hope that no one will do it. "
