From CAPTAIN MARVEL to STAR WARS EPISODE IX, Disney has about a dozen dazzling successes on the program for next year – and the only joker in the crowd is ARTEMIS FOWL next summer. FOWL, inspired by the famous children's fantasy series, follows a 12-year-old criminal brain who uses his genius to earn money through various criminal means (as his family has done for generations). In this tale, he removed a fairy hope to find his father. The first teaser of Kenneth Branagh's movie (THOR, CINDERELLA) is shown here with lots of gadgets, special effects (VFX) and a game of Men in Black Artemis (Ferdia Shaw) heading towards the screen as his he was too cool for school. But seriously, he is.

The film adaptation of the books is in what the children call "the hell of development" since the rights were achieved in 2001, year of publication of the first book. After many starts and stops, Disney had gone there, with the new role Shaw in the main role and Hong Chau, Nonso Anozie, Josh Gad, Miranda Reason and Judi Dench completing the cast. Michael Goldenberg (HARRY POTTER 5, GREEN LANTERN), Adam Kline and Conor McPherson are behind the screenplay, with Branagh and Judy Hoffland in production.
Clearly, this is designed as a new franchise for Disney because there are several other books in the series, but only time will tell if the series has what it takes to make a lot of money, or if it will go in the direction of JOHN CARTER and DEMAIN. It's been a few years since the books are in the limelight, with countless adaptations YA attracting attention, but there is always a fan base, without a doubt. Branagh is the one who lets me hope that this will be a fantastic outing above average, so it will be an interesting activity to watch.
Here is the synopsis:
