I am thoroughly into Red Dead Online the first day of access to the beta.

There is a lot to react in the overall experience, but it all starts with the creation of your character. There is good, bad and a lot of ugly. I used these tags to share my perspective on the process. Here is an overview of the creation of my character Volkas Red Dog. It's like a mix of Bill Duke, Paterson Joseph and Malcolm Barrett of Timeless. I like this show.
Good

You can choose a female or male character. It's a good thing. There is also an option to select the basic appearance, complexion, age, shape and other details on the face such as eyes, eyebrows and scars.
The hairstyles on the head and face are also customizable and the presentation of the process is solid. You are essentially an outlaw and the creative process is a reservation in which you give all your details. It's similar to the presentation NBA 2K19 used for his prelude; only there is an old western criminal element.
Once your character is finished, he is beautifully rendered and placed in the open world. It does not take long before you become attached and your outlaw acquires his own identity. This customization is important.
The bad
The options are a bit limited in most areas, at least for now. There is no possibility of facial modeling and, although there is a tape measure on the screen, I have not noticed where you could adjust the height. You can choose the composition of your character, but it is very model-based, which means that there will not be many variations in physical appearance in the world of Red Dead Online .
It seems like you can only have one active character at a time. I do not know if that will change, but I hope it will change. I hoped to create a male and female outlaw, but there was no option for a second character.
Also, I want your character to have a voice beyond the whistle for your horse. This would help a little with immersion.
This is only the first day of the Beta and Rockstar promised constant updates. I just hope that the character creation suite will get some extra updates. Although I know he will have a heavy load once everyone has access, I remain convinced he could offer more layers.
The ugly one

Are there outlaws with good teeth? Each option I saw had mutilated and / or discolored fronts. The game of moles was particularly pronounced. Because I chose a bald character, his whole head was full of caricatures. I have to admit that although these features do not win my character any beauty pageants, I liked the brutality and that sounds totally intentional on the part of Rockstar.
