Boyzone's Shane Lynch said the "Late Late Show" bosses were trying to dismantle the group "a picket or two" by showing the infamous video of their first appearance on the cat.

Lynch shocked hundreds of thousands of viewers on Friday night with a very busy response to animator Ryan Tubridy after questioning her opinion on the video that had just been screened.

He then stuck his middle finger to the camera.

Addressing "The Niall Boylan Show" at Clbadic Hits yesterday, the artist defended his actions, saying that he was "disappointed" that the TV station had attempted to "tear down" the group.

"So, 25 years later, in Boyzone, I arrive in this TV studio called RTÉ – in which we belong to the past, we have been there for a long time – and they decide from the beginning to try to we train in a hair like we do not need this stuff.

"In the end, I was disappointed that we were very young, very innocent and that we had continued to do incredible things. What you want to do is shoot us down? say what everyone tried to cut me off, I cut them off and told them I did not like it. "

RTÉ received 28 e-mails and 14 complaint calls from viewers.

Lynch appeared with Boyzone band members Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham and Keith Duffy to discuss their "goodbye" tour, which is 25 years after their creation by Louis Walsh.
