UEFA charges Ajax and AEK Athens after crowd problems

UEFA has confirmed that it would investigate AEK Athens and Ajax after the crowd troubles that tainted their clash on Tuesday.

Ajax beat AEK 2-0 in Greece to seal their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League, but trouble before the match was penalized. Shortly before the match, spectators were bombarded with fireworks and even Molotov badtails. The riot police then attacked Ajax fans.

UEFA has accused AEK Athens of seven violations while Ajax must answer for two. Trigger fireworks and throw objects. The UEFA Disciplinary Committee will examine the case on 13 December.

Ajax has already had trouble with UEFA this season after the crowd's troubles in shock with Benfica resulted in a conditional penalty for a away match without fans
