Sad moments
I had the chance to play a construction start at Wild Star at PAX a lot, a lot of years ago and saw a lot of great things, but was extremely worried. The goal was to replicate the experience of the old MMOs, as the market was shifting to free-to-play and many projects were getting rid of their subscription fees to cash shops.
At launch, I had a good time, but it was clear that subscription fees were a stumbling block. There is something to be said about being first on the market (hello League of Legends) as all other competitors have to deal with users who have long years of money or time collapsing into an existing economy, making it difficult to actually give up. The players had either migrated to World of Warcraft in a month (the fate of most, if not all so-called "Sensational-killers ") or another game leading to a possible inevitable announcement that Wild Star was free to play. Now it is no longer free: it's dead, Jim.
Since yesterday, the servers of Carbine Studios have been closed forever, which limits the access to the customer and therefore to the whole world of the game, which is gone forever. You can revel in the last moments of Wild Star below.
