It seems like AMD investor relations will be the host of a new event called "New horizon" scheduled for October 6 this year, where will be presented some of the latest AMD 7nm news and innovations. Judging by the latest rumors, it seems that among these novelties, there may be some Zen 2, code name "Matisse".
AMD Zen 2: the master card to beat Intel?
Zen 2 represents the next architecture coming out of the Sunnyvale roadmap, which should guarantee a nice gap with Zen + in terms of energy and performance.
In fact, it is said that the new production process will produce a result 7 nm TSMC and will be produced from early 2019 using the same AM4 connector as the current Ryzen 2 processors.
The transition to 7 nm will exceed the competition over time and will ensure Zen 2 non-indifferent benefits: further increase in the CPI, decrease in consumption and heat produced, ability to refine many aspects of architecture, and I also hope for a greater frequency of the factory.
Even Vega integrated APUs will benefit from the new production processand, hopefully, an increase in the number of graphics cores and their frequency, to offer an even more viable alternative for low-cost desktop configurations.
