Corning Gorilla Glass 6 supports several falls

Corning unveiled the sixth generation of its popular glbad used to protect millions of smartphones around the world. Gorilla Glbad 6 further enhances the characteristics of the previous Gorilla Glbad 5, as it can withstand multiple falls from higher heights. The first devices with the new glbad should arrive on the market in early 2019.

The American producer obviously had to follow the evolution of the design over the years. Early versions of Gorilla glbad were used to protect small "flat" screens. Today, there are smartphones with huge screens (up to 6.9 inches), double-sided screens that cover the sides of the camera and windows backward (allowing wireless charging), so the likelihood of doing irreparable damage has increased dramatically. That's why Corning used a new chemical composition for the Gorilla Glbad 6 that guarantees greater resistance to falls.

According to a recent study, users drop their smartphones seven times a year (on average) and 50% of falls occur from one meter in height. Thanks to the new materials, the Gorilla Glbad 6 survives 15 drops of one meter twice more than the Gorilla Glbad 5. The glbades of the competition break at the first fall. The scratch resistance is rather comparable to that of the previous generation.

Corning glbad has been used up to now for more than six billion appliances from 45 different manufacturers. The Gorilla Glbad 6 is currently being tested by many of the manufacturer's customers. The arrival on the market is scheduled for the coming months.
