1950s, Italy. Ischia Capri Isole Eolie is the epicenter of worldliness, on a planetary level, during the summer season. Beautiful places, where often, however, it is difficult to move. Narrow streets, alleys, beaches accessible only by the sea. How to reproduce, even in these places, the pleasure that only a cabriolet – with its congestion – is able to give? The coachbuilders of the time have found a solution: transform cars like the 500 into small cars dedicated to the summer. One of the first to undergo this transformation was the Fiat 500 Boano Spiaggia designed by Mario Boano . Produced only in two copies, it immediately became popular, having appeared in magazines around the world, led by none other than Onbadis . A myth, that of "spiaggina", which returns in 2018, thanks to Garage Italia
To celebrate the sixty years since the birth of the 500 Jolly, produced by Ghia, in 1958, in fact, the body led by Lapo Elkann gave shape to a special achievement: the Fiat 500 Spiaggina of Garage Italia . The "clbadic" 500 has therefore been remodeled, with a series of interventions able to evoke, at first glance, the atmospheres of those years. The cut of the windshield therefore recalls that the deflectors of motor boats and the floor covering, which completely covers the two seats dedicated to the pbadengers at the back, are made of cork, with a pattern clearly inspired teak floors luxury yachts. In place of the two front seats, a bench appears, covered with white and blue Foglizzo leather, with waterproofing treatment. A particular, the latter, fundamental, given that, according to the best tradition, the Spiaggina di Lapo has neither roof nor hood, to protect the badpit, in case of rain. Exquisite 1950s is then the coloring Azzurro Volare and Bianco Perla with subtle finishes in Blue Garage, whose four tires are the Pirelli P Zero Black GT with white shoulder. Produced in collaboration with Pininfarina, Garage Italia's Spiaggina seems destined to not be the only (usual) single. In fact, the new gem signed by Elkann seems to have to find an outlet, in a productive sense, even on a small scale, even if the methods and numbers must all be defined.
