Instagram and Facebook test Do not disturb

Instagram and Facebook are testing some users with a new Do Not Disturb feature, which will disable notifications for a certain period of time, reports TechCrunch magazine. Beyond that, Instagram has announced a feature that will alert the user when he has finished seeing all new messages. "We have heard that it can be difficult to track posted messages," Instagram wrote in the statement on her blog. "With this warning, you'll have a better understanding of your feed and you'll know you have not lost any recent photos or videos."

Similar initiatives are part of recent efforts by various technology companies to give users more control. Google and Apple have recently announced similar features of the operating system. Apple, for example, has added the Do Not Disturb feature on iPhone and iPad to block notifications based on where you are. It also intends to provide weekly reports on the time spent by users, allowing them to limit the consumption of specific applications. Google on the other hand had announced the possibility of triggering a silent mode in Android devices when the phone is placed on the table face down.
