The Red Bull Esports Open Mobile took place on Saturday. This was the first example of an international export tournament dedicated to a mobile game in Italy, which saw the victory of Luca Javier "Pasti" Pegna, a 16-year-old Milanese already under contract with the Mkers team, one of the most important Italian organizations in competitive video games. Same as Daniele "Iceprinsipe" Paolucci, FIFA champion.

Lucca Comics & Games has for some years been a space in which the export sector has found its natural home in the fascinating Esports Cathedral, a church that has become a space for events in which Earthquake, overwatch and League of Legends they coexist with stuccoes, marbles and frescoes that seem to watch the games with curiosity. This year, however, visitors to the Tuscan event were able to attend a fairly rare event in the Italian export field, an international taste tournament entirely on smartphones: the Red Bull Mobile Esports Open, organized by ESL. The competition was entirely based on the only mobile game spread in Europe to boast of a competitive scene and a fast and fun mechanic: Clash Royale.

For the unusual, Clash Royale is a real-time strategy game in which the goal is to destroy the opponent's castle by deploying armies of all kinds that differ in speed, damage, attack zone and special powers from a player's deck. To deploy the different cards, you have to pay a cost in points reloaded periodically. This is a very fast track and full of strategic variations where anything can happen and the concentration must be total to keep control on the battlefield and evaluate each option coldly and quickly.

To win, Pasti beat a competition that challenged more than 700 boys all over Italy to win a ticket for Lucca and then be able to participate in the finals with eight players. To make things more exciting, Pasti lost the semifinal, ending up in the losers group, and then defeated the same opponent in the final that made him eat dust.

Now he will have to keep the Italian colors at the height of the final in Germany and hope to emerge victorious. Meanwhile, this tournament has shown that the export can arrive on mobile to show how much the video game is a varied activity, rich in subsets and populated by fans of all types.
