Presented on the eve of EICMA, the definitive version of one of the most anticipated off-roader of recent years
The new Yamaha Ténéré was born from the remnants of the XT family, which in the late 70's with its X6600Z model Ténérè (in fact) has transferred some of the charm of sand racing on the world market: to become, for years and years in the following versions, an object of worship for the many bikers pbadionate about the genre.
DEVELOPED BY CHAMPIONS – This was done to wait a long time but this choice is part of Yamaha's strategy, which showed the new Ténéré (identified with the T7 code prototype, so far) around the world, in extreme situations, for increase the desire for adventure. To develop it, a team composed of big names: the multiple winner of the Dakar, Stephane Pererhansel and the two current drivers of the rally team, Van Beveren and Fagoter, who tested it in the most diverse conditions.

CONSUMER CONTENT – At EICMA, the Ténéré was presented in its final form. Iwata House has kept its promise by presenting an extreme product that, according to rumors, will also have an incredible price. The bike was born around a large 689cc twin-cylinder, which MT-07 drivers know well. The strong points are the linear and instant delivery, and the acceleration that has nothing to envy to racing versions. The consumption? Rather content since the declared autonomy to the full 16 liters is about 350 km.
TOP CYCLE – As a product dedicated to off-roading, the engineers chose a double cradle frame made of steel tubes, which transmits lightness and agility (it was the goal of the designers) at once on and off the road. The chosen fork has an extension of 43 mm adjustable upside down and a stroke of 210 mm to safely face any type of obstacle or ground. The back is derived from rallies. It is mounted on an aluminum swingarm. It has a 200 mm excursion and remote preload control to speed up the response of the bike as soon as driving conditions change.
DESIGNED FOR PURE OFFROAD – Even the details explain that the bike was designed to tackle demanding off-roaders. The height from the ground is 240 mm while the seat is placed at 880 mm (Yamaha however also provided low stools to allow even those who do not have much to drive can easily rest their feet on the ground ) and the driving position seems to allow you to easily manage the bike standing on the footrests. The stroke of the front wheel is 210 mm, that of the rear 200 mm, a little more than a cross-over, a little less than a specialist enduro. It is obvious that the front rim measures 21 "and the rear rim 18" (combined with Scorpion Rally STR), standard sizes, for all-terrain vehicles. For this reason, tires for off-road tires can also be mounted on the Ténéré. At the front, two discs 282 millimeters in diameter; at the back a disc of 245 millimeters in diameter. The ABS can be disconnected, like any self-respecting all-terrain vehicle.
FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS – Even the components are designed to be functional rather than sighted. Digital instrumentation, simple, compact and immediate (pure Dakar style), effective fairing against the wind and rain, handlebar support (the latter conical section) to fix the road-book, silent mounted at the top. The only extravagance concerns the front optical unit, easily recognizable because it consists of four LED headlights, which give the Ténéré a racing look.
The bike will be available from next summer in the colors Ice, White or Black.
