Jeff Bezos unveiled an ambitious plan to send a spacecraft to the moon.

Bezos announced that its space company Blue Origin would land a robotic vessel the size of a small house, capable of carrying four rovers and using a newly designed rocket engine and jet fuzes. It would be followed by a version that could bring people to the moon the same time as NASA's proposed return for 2024.

The leader of the Amazon, which was downplayed by his model of the Blue Moon vehicle during his presentation in Washington DC on Thursday, said: "It's an amazing vehicle and it's going on the moon."

Last month, Blue Origin teased Thursday's event by posting a photo of Explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton's Endurance ship on Twitter.

The famous ship was lost in an ice floe off Antarctica more than 100 years ago. However, the survival and rescue of the ship's crew is considered an incredible achievement in terms of human endurance.

Lunar exploration is currently attracting a lot of attention. Last month, for example, the Israeli spacecraft Beresheet hit the lunar surface. If the privately funded investigation had managed to make a 'soft landing' on the moon, it would have placed Israel in a select group of nations. Only three countries – the United States, the Soviet Union and China – have made "soft landings" on the lunar surface.

China became the first country to successfully land a probe on the other side of the moon when the LG Chang'e 4 reached the lunar surface on January 2nd.

The United States is the only country to have placed astronauts on the moon, which was done in December 1972 during the Apollo 17 mission. Only 12 men, all Americans, have walked the lunar ground.

On July 20, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11, lunar landing and landing missions continue to fascinate.

Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin recently sold a checklist on the surface of the moon auctioned in New York for $ 62,500. During the same auction, three tiny moon rocks reported from space by the unmanned Soviet Luna-16 mission were sold for $ 855,000.

December 21, 2018 also marked the 50th anniversary of the memorable launch of Apollo 8. In a series of historic lunar orbits, NASA astronauts Frank Borman, Jim Lovell and Bill Anders became the first humans to see the hidden side of the moon.
