The award-winning show dog disappeared in the world's busiest airport and was found, authorities said.

Gale, a 22-month-old American Staffordshire terrier, will find his owner a few days after his disappearance at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport just before his return to Amsterdam.

In a tweet, Atlanta Airport said Gale had been spotted in an airfield thicket on Tuesday. A bait trap was installed and Gale was found shortly thereafter.

Gale was in Atlanta with his masters after a dog show. She had to board a KLM plane and return home, but she disappeared.

"When they tried to load my dog's cage, it was empty and they could not find it," Gale owner Floris Van Essen told Channel 2 Action News.

Van Essen said that once the operators showed up at the door, they received a call from the terminal informing them that Gale was gone. The attendants were invited to board the plane while the officials were looking for the dog, Van Essen told Channel 2.

"She's lost," he says. "She does not understand, we miss her and she is alone in a big airport. It is a terrible test.
