The criminal trial of Kellen Winslow II, former NFL ally, has begun.

In his opening statements, which can be seen with the full CourtTV.com trial, the prosecution set out the charges against Winslow for various sexual offenses.

"Mr. Winslow got a lot, but it was not enough," Dan Owens told the jury.

Owens promised the testimony of five different victims.

"He victimized five women, five different women who did not know each other," Owens said. "It's not a question of whether or not he was the person involved in these crimes, but to know what the crimes are."

Winslow, a first-round pick of the Browns in 2004 and the son of Kellen Winslow, a tight member of the Hall of Fame Chargers, are facing 12 counts, including a rape. If he is found guilty, he faces a life sentence.

"I'm asking you to judge him by his identity and not by his father," said Owens.

Winslow's defense will become clearer when his lawyer makes an opening statement later in the day.

Owens' opening statement continues as of the date of this publication.
