Japan eases its travel warning to Egypt

Japan eased travel warnings against Egypt following an improvement in security conditions in the country.

The Japanese Embbady in Cairo made this announcement on Tuesday, stating that new areas had been listed as safe. Prior to the demotion, Japanese nationals had been warned not to visit parts of the North African country, including Alexandria, Greater Cairo, Hurghada, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel

. Cairo is now content to travel north of Sinai, the Western Desert and the border with Libya.

Several countries, including the United States, have asked their citizens not to travel to Sinai except Sharm El-Sheikh by plane. the Western Desert and the Egyptian border region with Libya because of terrorism and military campaigns.

Egypt has sought to attract more tourists from Asian countries following a decline in Russians arrivals. In February 2016, President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi made a historic visit to Japan to urge citizens of the country to visit his country, noting that Cairo is committed to protecting the security of his country.

In October 2017, Egyptian flagship airline EgyptAir resumed flights between Cairo and Tokyo after a four-year suspension, a number of flights depending on demand in the Egyptian tourist market

. EgyptAir direct flights between Luxor and Tokyo in 2016, with the aim of reviving tourism in Luxor, considered one of the most important tourist destinations of Egypt in Upper Egypt.
