The Senegalese Prime Minister announced that President Macky Sall had asked him to launch reforms including the abolition of his own work.
The reforms would include "the removal of the intermediate level of the prime minister," said Mahammed Boun Abdallah Dionne, whom Sall had just renamed to this post.
The goal is to bring the administration of citizens closer to speed up reforms and give them more impact, said Dionne, speaking from the presidential palace, while Sall was advancing Senegal as a democratic model. in Africa as part of an ambitious reform agenda.
Dionne has also been appointed Secretary General of the Republic, according to a presidential decree read on national television.
Once the post of Prime Minister disappeared, Dionne said that he would continue to badume this second role.
"The idea is to reduce bottlenecks so that information can be disseminated more easily" and allow reforms to have "more impact on the population" said Dionne in his TV commentary.
The outgoing general secretary, Maxime Jean Simon Ndiaye, also explained the changes live on television.
President Sall, he said, had "considered it appropriate to reconsider the intermediate level" of the office of Prime Minister. He wanted, as president, to be in direct contact with the administrative levels of the government applying the law, said Ndiaye.
