The journalist identified as Uganda Broadcasting Corporation's Gykenda Semakula sparked strong reactions among netizens, with some saying the act was not right.
The incident occurred during a demonstration in which President Museveni's son Muhoozi Kainerugaba and other high ranking officers of the Ugandan army were promoted.
Earlier this month, Museveni's son, General Kainerugaba, was among more than 2,000 army officers promoted to various ranks.
The first son, aged 44, has progressively moved from the rank of major general to special presidential advisor for special operations.
He was previously chief of command of the elite special forces, a unit responsible for the security of the president.
