According to The Australian, the twin-engine aircraft can carry nine pbadengers and was built in 1975.

The ATSB said in a statement that the investigation involved reviewing Vortex Air's operational procedures and interviewing the pilot.

The office alleges "during the cruise, the pilot fell asleep, which caused an overflight of King Island by 46 km".
