A patient from the Kericho County Reference Hospital isolated on a suspected case of Ebola virus infection gave a negative result to the deadly disease.

In announcing this news through a statement, the Ministry of Health added that the woman had also pbaded a negative test for all viral haemorrhagic fevers.

"The results of tests carried out by KEMRI laboratories (Kenya Medical Research Institute) on blood samples of a 36-year-old lady currently admitted to the lonely isolation unit. Kericho County Reference Hospital have been confirmed as NEGATIVE against Ebola Virus Disease and other viral haemorrhagic fevers, "said Health CS Sicily Kariuki.

The CS dispelled fears that there might be cases of Ebola in the country, claiming that his ministry was adequately prepared just in case.

"The Ministry of Health wishes to remind the general public and health facilities that we are prepared for Ebola prevention and response measures and that, therefore, there is no need to panic", she said.

The country was panicked by the case of the 36-year-old woman who had traveled from Malaba, the border between Kenya and Uganda. Previously, three cases had been reported and confirmed in Uganda.

Three other people who had taken the Kericho woman to the hospital had also been placed in the isolation of the referral center.

It was the woman's husband and two other people who helped him take her to the hospital.
